The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), has raided cable network from electronic shops and has seized illegal hardware and DTH apparatus. DTH re-broadcasters and viewers watching Indian content and distributing Indian TV channels, have also been tracked down.
According to Malik Qasim Nawaz, the general manager of PEMRA, foreign channels and dish antenna have been banned by the government. He added that the raids will be ongoing and actions will be taken if electronic shops and cable operators violate the policies of the government.
To recall, PEMRA has already banned various channels, starting on October 21, last year. Violators’ licenses have been suspended without notice throughout the Pakistan country.
