The free DTH platform, Freedish is launching Maha Cartoon TV, the free-to-air (FTA) kids channel in India. Already accessible on small cable TV networks in Hindi-speaking markets (HSM), Maha Cartoon TV will expand its presence across other areas in the coming months.

The channel is launched Teleone Consumers Product (owned by DV Group of Companies) and targets an audience with an age range of four to fourteen. The channel offers content that include animated shows produced locally together with worldwide ones. Kids will also be served with foreign content dubbed in Hindi, alongside the popular ‘Mooshak Gungun’, ‘Bal Chanakya’, ‘Panchtantra Stories’ and ‘Ciko’.

Darshan Singh the Chief Managing Director of DV Group, said: “I relate to this audience as I come from rural area. I think this channel will be a great gift to rural kids, who do not have access to quality kids content. The channel is aimed at providing entertainment and knowledge to kids”.

On the other hand, Vishvajeet Sharma, the Managing Director and founder of DV Group said: “Today we have more than 20 pay kids channels but not one FTA kids channel. There is a huge opportunity in the FTA kids space, as kids form a large chunk of viewership base in rural India”.

Furthermore, kids will have the opportunity to view interactive and educative programming on the channel with techno commercial show called ‘Techno Kids’.
