Kolkata-based advertising and production house, T Sarkar Ltd, announced the soft launch of its ‘Orange TV’ FTA satellite entertainment channel in West Bengal. The channel will be officially launched March 31 with a mix of music, non-fiction and film content.
Orange TV will be distributed by SitiCable, KCBPL-GTPL, Manthan, Digicable, AMBC and DEN Networks and streamed from INSAT-4B. T Sarkar promoter Binayak Sarkar said that the channel is targeting the 15–34 age group and will have a strong digital presence on other medium. “This is the first time anybody is launching a channel dedicated to youth in the regional market,” said Sarkar, adding that break-even is planned for the third year of operation.
Following the launch in West Bengal, the channel aims to spread to other cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. The company is also considering to tap international markets such as Bangladesh and the UAE.
